I am looking for the trim clips for the chrome molding between the doors on my 1948 custom 8 I have found all the other clips but just cannot seem to find these. Any suggestions?

Maybe the '48 Customs are different but the small trim piece between the doors on my 47 Super Clipper are studs that are threaded for a small nut.

Dave, the similar piece on my 54 Patrician was fitted the same way, the trim piece had a threaded stud and you had to carefully remove the upholstery from the pillar to reattach.

I have a delightfully sneaky trick for that problem. Use double sided molding tape, available at a good auto parts store. Clean the paint and the molding well, apply the tape and stick that puppy on. The tape is rather thick, resiliant, and tenacious. If the molding is hollow and the tape does not protrude. then put on a couple of layers of tape. Or, fill the back of the molding with bondo or epoxy, then put on the tape and stick it on. After a day of setting, it will be on tighter than with a molding clip.

I have another trick. Use a rubber grommet and apply just
enough lubricant to allow the stud to slide through it. Works great on my 55. When you have to remove it, then it should just slide out the same way. One note you may have to drill the hole out a bit for the grommet.

Could you please elaborate on the rubber grommet. I have a '51 Packard 200 and have the same problem with the small trim piece falling off......I can't visualize your solution...Does the rubber go in the hole???

Why not just use those little tubular speed nuts? I know my '54 uses them in several places where access to the back side is obscured. The nut pushed in from the outside, and then the post on the your trim gets pushed into the nut causing it to expand.

While we have this thread fresh and running I am looking for the rubber insulator bushing that fits the shift lever where it goes into the column. Any help??
