suggest you contact airport chief of TSA and have the article pre-approved and make sure he, or a designate, is on duty when you plan to pass through security for your flight. TSA agents can be quite subjective and it is pointless to argue with them, they tend to wear their uniforms a bit tight.
The airlines rely on the TSA screening...you should not have any problems boarding, unless you get a gate agent in a bad mood....

Government employment policy would just hire more of the same. Granted there are always exceptions and I can think of some very good people but--- Based on others I would run into frequently while servicing equipt at various govt facilities, I've long thought if 25% of the staff would actually work 3 or 4 hours out of the 8 they got paid for, the facility could work quite well with half the people. It always amused me that individuals who seemed to be moving thru private sector jobs rather quickly always wound up working for the govt and complaining about how low paid and hard they worked while reading the paper or standing in the hall talking.

I've worked for AMC, GE, K-Mart (world hdqtrs), Maremeont and 16 years in state gov't with some federal exposure. There is really no more dereliction of duty nor ineptness at the gov't level than at the private or corporate level. Gov't employment to some significant extent has more exposure to the public eye than private OR corporate employment/contract. There does to seem to be a lot of financial accounting backwardness/ineptitude among gov't financial accounting. To be expected since gov't is the only institution known to man that NEVER has to show a profit. I've often heard many stuffed shirts complain of union loafers on the job in the corporate world. Percentage wise loafing/inept ability is much more wide spread on mahogany row than it is down on the line or over in the shops. Loafing is more of a matter of exposure than sector related.

Maybe so but in this case with the individuals & number of jobs involved, I keep coming back to the govt as employer of last resort. Unless they are a crook, it's even a major deal to get fired from a govt job. I watched for months while they actually tried with one guy. They finally got him although not for what started it all.
When I compare patient loads at almost any private hosp vs govt it is amazing. Private hosp routinely has several fluoro barium exams scheduled in a day--some are PIA but easy moneymakers. Local govt hosp usually does half as many --if even that, with a scheduled waiting list frequently of over a month. Not because of any shortages either. CT room might have a bunch of exams scheduled but usually again about half as many as private hosp but if machine burped--even though it would limp or only took a few minutes to fix, some techs canceled the entire day even if a patient was prepped because "I didn't feel like doing them today anyway". Try doing that at a private hosp. It's that kind of stuff that just boggles the mind--the difference between getting paid for something and not, I guess.. Apologies for the rant and off topic. It started with "fire them all" and I guess I've watched too many politicians (govt employees) lately and am pissed at all of them.

Lugged a late '40's Packard radio as carry on luggage from Chicago -> Washington -> Tampa -> Chicago -> Los Angeles -> Sydney. No real drama, told them what is was before it went through X-ray and had to show them a couple of times. Just bloody heavy!
