Headed to be Engineer Officer on the USS JACKSONVILLE.
Installed the clutch linkage today. Now I just need to determine where the return spring attaches.

I realise it's unlikely a nuclear powered ship would visit an Australian port let alone enter Australian waters. But I have it on good authority that one was seen surfaced off the Queensland Gold Coast some years ago, although the government pointedly failed to acknowledge its existence despite the thousands of eyewitnesses to the event. Despite that if, by some faint chance, USS JACKSONVILLE berths at Garden Island in Sydney Harbour I'd like to request a guided tour if that's at all possible?

It's alive!!!
Drove the car out of the shop today under it's own power. I brought it to the water so I can flush the block. Anyone have a picture or description of how the clutch pedal return spring is attached? I think it goes on the throwout fork, but where from there?

No idea what year but out of 35-41 manual. Look like anything you have? On some, the return spring stationary end was attached to a tab on the frame.

I don't have 3.103. Wonder if mine is missing, or something different was done by Packard for my year. Thanks for the picture!

Ken - see clutch adjustment section in the condensed 1937 shop manual (green cover) on this site. the picture is better at the beginning of the 120 section. The above illustration is for a 39 and later car.

Ken,
The Flackmasters post rang a bell with made me. I have a reprint copy of the '37 shop Manual he refers to. Because I don't have a '37, if you'd like it, it's yours. Just send me a PM with your address details or you could pick it up if you visit Sydney! Attach file: (15.82 KB) (19.19 KB)

Mal, perhaps the Flackmaster doesn't rank among the best bell ringers since the picture doesn't show a return spring.
