Howard, The photo shows the engine number location on my 1937 Six (115C) Convertible Coupe. Probably a one year only location because the engines (6- and 8-cylinder Juniors) were upgraded in 1938. The distributor is out for servicing.

Mal, where is the engine number pad located? Hard to tell with the close up view, but it looks to be in a different location than the one on my '37.

1938 "6" 1185
Numbers are on a pad.Left side, top front of engine. Casting date is right side back of engine just above pan rail. (Just noticed how much the engine changed between 37 & 38)

John,
Same position as yours. The dipstick is at the lower right corner of the pic. I was going to post the pic yesterday with the others but, because I wasn't sure where it was located, left it out. Seeing yours, I was able to identify location from the dipstick and posted as confirmation.

Mal, JW and 38 Club Coupe, thanks again for the photos.
It's beginning to look like 30's cars are going to need a page of their own. If O_D has a chance to get any of twelves, that will make at least 5 (so far) different locations. The way it is going, expect another variation or two since we haven't heard if 30-31 is the same as 32 or if 35-6 juniors different than 37. Now have a 20-23 single six. Anyone have any more 20's info?

Mal, now I see the dip stick, hiding in plain sight, although a bit obscured because of the green paint. Thanks for the reply.

Photo from 1936 Twelve. I suspect all the Twelves 33-39 to be in the same location, and perhaps the 32 Twin Six. This is the driver's side of the engine, forward of the oil filler tube/crankcase breather, behind the generator, and just below the cylinder head. Standard format is a six-digit number with a "star" before and after the #. No prefixes or suffixes that I'm aware of though others may know better on that score.

Howard,
Hope you haven't been hanging on waiting after I said last night, Sydney time, in the Wade's Workshop Blog that I'd post these pic's 'later'.
