Bob, my reply isn't exactly, what you are looking for but that kind of abbreviations was usual at later Packards (1940 Eight, 1941 180, 1947 Super Clipper, 1950 Eight) too.

That speedometer is for 1939 Packard Six. The 37 has different font and a long straight pointer.
If you are seeking a 37, let me know. I may have a serviceable unit. Pat

Thanks, I expected something like that. I wonder why it was changed? I suspect a matter of falsifying the odometer, sneaky!

Bob,
Or a broken glass from someone slamming the gloveboxe shut with too much force. Mine was broken when I bought my car - I suspected that to be the reason?? Chris.

Speaking of broken glass, I am curious if very many have tried to replace theirs or is bad glass not a big issue. I believe I remember one person saying he found a good match for his year (can't remember which year) domed glass at this place. Since I cannot recall anyone else mentioning replacing any am wondering if the domed types do not break or scratch very often or do some need holes for an adjustment knob and those holes are too difficult to be drilled or is replacement glass supplier places just not well known.

Local glass(window) companies can cut the glass for you. I use Peter's glass in Romeo,MI as they can cut circular and curved glass by hand. Very reasonably priced.

Quite a regular

That would not be my first guess. The original one probably stopped working, so they replaced it with an available alternative. If you want to rewind the odometer, you take it out and re-arrange the rolls in the desired order

Bob,
Oops, At a glance I mistook that for the clock face! Sorry. Who knows how the speedo glass could get broken? If all a guy is looking for is the glass, I'd think there'd be lots of 'cores' on Ebay. Chris.

Most clock repair shops have the curved glass in stock, they come in many sizes and are very nice. I used one on my 39 Six.
