Possible... I do plan to get under there tomorrow and take a good look. There is a "clunking" sound from time to time that's fairly new as well which had me wondering if the starter bolts were working loose. Shouldn't be, but.....

One of the things I do love about my '51. Everything is out there in the open within easy reach. Except of course, the Ultramatic dip stick!

One way or the other ya gotta be able to get under 'em. I still can. I just pay for it for a few days afterwards.

Well I found the link (thanks to Howard) and I put some money down. Only 6 days

The first and only time I wished something on e-Bay was "buy it now".

Wow!

What a group!

A simple "Thank you" doesn't see to cover this but I don't know what else to say.

Go.to.aurozone and buy an aftermarket generic ignition switch for less than $15 and transfer the wires. This will at least let you prove or disprove a faulty switch and get you by until a good original switch can be sourced.

That's a great idea. I certainly don't want to be driving it with the times the ignition just turning off occuring more often. At least I may be able to drive her on this Friday's Nation Collector Car Day (or whatever it's called).

Thanks BigKev!

You might consider one of these replacement ignition switches from NAPA/Echlin, though I'm not certain that all of them are currently offered.

It's Friday 12:41 pm. Santa arrived here about 20 minutes ago with a present for my Packard (and myself). Grabbed my ohm meter as though it is a NOS Ignition Switch, it's be NOS for a long time. Everything checks out.

Guess what I'm going to do next!
