Well swap meet was good this morning and it is always a nice little turnout. Several Packards were in attendance (pictures to follow soon).

Mal, call the PI main office and ask to speak to "Cal". While he doesn't have a complete engine snubber, he does have one side or the other. You just have to call him a tell him which side you need to see if that if the side he has. You will just have to replace the rubber portion. But the metal should be in good shape. Thats the only lead I was able to find on that. Everyone else told me "good luck". I was told that people would just throw them away when the rubber rotted out as they would drag under the car, and as such there is no more supply of them unless it comes off a parts car.

Now for the website, I tapped into my Packard parts fund, and was able to secure the 1936, 1938, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1943 Service Letters. Of which the '36, '38, '41, '43 are originals. Don't ask how much I paid for them. It wasn't cheap, but the it was a good deal for the website. Also the gentleman I bought all the service letters from from in extra photo copies of the '51 and '55 Service Counselors. So hopefully it may contains some of the missing pieces we need.

Also the PI San Diego Chapter donated the 1941-1957 Shell Accessory Cross Reference and Lube Charts to the website.

Good stuff for the website, but my poor '54 will have to wait a bit longer for needed parts.

Look for all the content to get scanned and up on the website over the next couple of days. Also for those that send me pictures and emails over the last week I will be getting through all of that today. Thanks for your patience.

Also along those lines is any one has and of the 1935 and prior service letters, or the 1937 & 1942 service letters then please donate photo copy of them to the website so we can start to work on the Pre-War Service index.

Thanks,

Kev,

Finally called Cal, 4:30am Sydney time Friday morning thats 11:30am Thursday morning Pacific time. Tried yesterday but I was too late as the PI phone number is only active 9:00am to Noon. Upshot of it all was that Cal didn't have the part I required although he had two left hand threaded ends to the snubber with the bolt broken off just like mine.

Looks like I'll be dependent on the following coming to fruition as mentioned in response to John's(Appin) thread about "thingie":
Quote:
flackmaster wrote:........what really intrigues me is the design of this with the left hand/right hand turnbuckle - it becomes too easy to put a long wrench on this to overtighten, and stress/bend the neck as on Mal's...I agree that worn engine mounts and tranny mounts contribute to the failures on this........Bates engineering is working on a retrofit design for the snubber using urethane bushings, like a common stabilizer link, but treat this as just a rumor for now.
