speaking of waterpump. question whether I should go back to gravity feed if they radiator shop can't do a proper repair on the inlet of the radiator I have...see pics for the horrid job from before. looks like a bunch of JB weld to hold on the neck of some other radiator to the top of the inlet of the original. shakes head again. maybe my standards are just too high.
the water pump says LH or LM on it...no numbers. got the radiator out last night, from the engine side, so yes it is possible. also got the distribution tube out through the grille, so that is also indeed possible. no need to remove the front clip as a whole. is the distribution tube correct for this car? I have no idea if there are different styles or if the holes are in different places per year, etc. there were bits of metal that came out of it...probably from the water pump shedding pieces over time. block looks decent enough. have not stuck the power washer through the grille to blast the inside of the block yet. probably tonight. I pulled the electric fans out as well. I hate that they shake the whole front of the car from being out of balance. will replace with new for those times the car is in traffic or a parade, etc. Texas is not to be messed with. going to attempt to make a separate mount for them instead of pulled ties through the core like this one was mounted. lower radiator hose pictured for the number, still has spring in it. guessing the half moon shaped tag on the shutter thermostat is probably supposed to have some text on it...but is painted over black. part number...manufacturer....temp range...etc. any guesses? it doesn't actually work that well, but I just force the shutters open...its Texas...give me air! Henry, I hope this doesn't add any more confusion, but I thought the moveable grille shutters did not appear on the junior cars until the 1938 models. Are your shutters moveable? If not, then it looks like someone installed a later type radiator to operate moveable shutters, but not connected. My 115C has stationary shutters.
Maybe when things quiet down, you can share with us the procedure you used to remove the radiator without taking off the front clip. (o[]o)

120/138CD models have movable shutters in 37, so mine are correct. 115c does not.
not sure if my radiator was mounted correctly....but I pulled the fan pulley and blade and then the water pump (no idea if this is possible with water pump in place, probably not) then removed 8 bolts from each side of radiator to grille shell. then top bolt. then bottom bolt from under car. shoved forward on top of radiator to lean back towards engine. angled out slowly. its heavy and leaning over the fender made this difficult. had to rest radiator carefully on top of motor before I lifted it out between the brace bars. when putting it back with re-core i'll have to be extra careful.

That's the Pines Winterfront tag, available as a reproduction if you want one. It will say PINES AUTOMATIC WINTEFRONT Made in U.S.A. with a couple of patent numbers.

The 1937 120C has fixed, not moveable shutters while the 120CD (deluxe equipment) has moveable shutters as does the long wheelbase 138" 138CD, all of which are deluxe eequipped.

when I said 120/138CD...I meant both were CD. I wasn't sure about 120C so I didn't mention it, but I knew 115C did not have it. sorry for the confusion.

Hank,
Regarding your photo of the lower radiator hose, is it a one piece hose and should it be? Asking that, because I'm not familiar with '37's while my '41 120 which has a three piece lower hose with a metal tube elbow between the two rubber lengths. If you don't know, others may know whether '37's had a three piece lower hose or not.
