Axle Rato = coded - stamped?

I have heard from someone who wants to buy the rear axle/pig from my '38 Junior, if it is the right ratio. He thinks it is stamped into the housing. Is it?

My '41 120 has the ratio on the flange of the center section, see pic, sorry about the quality.

EDIT - Added a very poor quality pic of the ring gear which has the number of teeth for both it and the pinion gear stamped into it.

The ratio on my 38 jr. is stamped into the housing near the bolt at the 2 o'clock position. For the 6 cyl cars the standard ratio was 4.54 with 4.36 and 4.7 optional On the standard 8 it's 4.36 standard and 4.54 and 4.7 optional. The stamped numbers aren't very big.

Of course the ring and pinion could have been previously changed to a different ratio, so it's always best to confirm by counting teeth, or checking the markings on the ring and pinion gears themselves.

It is 11-48 which equates to 4.36:1 and that matched the ratio on the housing.

And Dave,

Of course, I didn't find either set of stamped numbers until after I'd counted the teeth on the ring and pinion! This for a number of reasons. Didn't know they were there, the center section was covered in hardened gunk and the ring markings were assumed as part numbers until I looked closely at them just after I'd finished the counting trick.
