Excellent! Don't get the Rock Auto Gas Neck Grommet, it is a nice part/price but it is not for our cars, wrong shape and ID/OD, other than that!!?

Metro has been around for a long, long time and I even used some of their parts on my 1940 which must have been in the ‘60s. At least one part I bought from them did not fit properly (the base gasket for the trunk handle) but most were fine.

Hope to never do another one.

Once the correct kingpins arrive I'll get everything back together.

If I didn't have this tool, I'd still be out there.

Gosh, way back at post #858. Do you think those footman loops could help the straps to support a bag of tools, jack, etc?

I basically cobbled up tools like that to press out the bushings. Worked well.

Now that the 37 and 40 have both been done, I hope to never, ever work on a king pin front end again...

Sadly, a '65 Falcon Van might need them though...

They were not original, but someone could have installed them for something like that.

Kingpins arrived and are correct. Had to order some shims online as I needed probably another .005 to remove the play on one side.

Right spindle back on the car. Gave it a quick coat of paint and a new grease fitting. I always replace the fittings on my cars, as then you don't have to fight with a plugged one.

Hopefully the shims for the other side arrive tomorrow or Tuesday and I can get that one back together as well.

Just want to confirm something. When I took removed the four bolts that hold the brake backing plates to the spindles, there were just castlated nuts, no washers. Is this correct?

I don't specifically see them called out in the parts list.
