update....went to install my replacement fuel pump....here are images of the interface (you be the judge):) As someone mentioned....it can only go one way.

Packard must have cast their mount upside down on your engine or else the pump was bought from one of the vendors like those currently on ebay whose motto is one size or one style fits all.

The good thing is, I have no doubt someone on the forum could make it work--even sideways--should you so choose.

HH is on target as usual, except for making it fit. That pump has not even a remote similarity to the correct one. Send it back to whomever you got it from, and try to find the right pump, you already have the AC original and replacement pumps numbers above.

It almost like the pump arm is installed upside-down. Weird.

Take a look at some flathead Cadillac V8s; if I recall correctly they used a pump installation with the fuel section inverted.

PS - if that pump is an AC, send me the numbers and I'll try identify the application.

Looks like Packard did cast the mounts "upside down" for 1935 and 1936.
The 1937 and newer cars that I am familiar with are the other way around and the pump that you have would work fine for those models.

I have an AC catalog from 1945 and was going to post some images from it but noticed that it was copyrighted by GM. I can send you copies of what I have if you PM me with your email address.

It looks like you have the correct type of pump for your car which is an AC Type X but the arm is upside down for the 1935 and 1936 cars.

I have motor number 68592

The fuel pump number on this one is 1521814

I bought it from Max Merritt and they have it listed (and the image I started this thread off with) on their internet catalog for the 1936 120 model only. I am assuming they have someone who rebuilds these, as with most things requiring a core exchange.

I purchase quite a bit stuff from them and never had a problem; and they can get me most things by the next day (since they are about 3 hours away).

The fuel pump number on this one is 1521814

My AC listing shows that pump as fitting a 1935/1936 Auburn Six. What does Max say about taking it back and supplying the correct pump?

I'm in colorado this weekend (where I live) and I think Merritt is closed on Sat and Sunday. I am certain they will take it back and get ahold of them monday. Thanks for the info
