I've had the car about two yrs. and just not getting to work on it and can't find a source for manuals. I need to know the firing order from the spark plugs to distributor cap and which way the plugs wire to the distributor cap.

Also, need a diagram for fuel pump. Fuel pump is also the vacuum pump - has four outlets, none are marked so I need to know which one goes where.

Thanks.

There are factory wiring diagrams on site here but I believe most would agree the A.E.A. diagrams found following the link on the left menu at the Packard Club sitehttp://www.packardclub.org/ are easier to read and follow. It shows the wire orientation. Firing order (CCW rotation) is 1-6-2-5-8-3-7-4.

Don't see any 36 manuals on site to download but I would almost bet the 35 and 37's which are available would be very similar. A repro 36 printed manual is available for purchase from Kanterhttp://www.kanter.com/packard/ the Packard Club store, and other vendors.

I'm assuming you have a double-action fuel pump and if so the 4 "outlets' you see on the fuel pump are probably an inlet and outlet for fuel, and an inlet and outlet for the vacuum booster which is used to maintain better vacuum under hard acceleration for the windshield wipers. The pump in principle isn't different than those used by Packard and many other makes of cars for decades. The fuel side probably has a fuel sediment bowl, and you can identify the inlet and outlet by cranking the engine over with your finger over the openings.
