Since I have a 55, I don't know the answer to this question, but a friend and I are discussing this. What is the correct radiator/hood ornament for this vehicle? Would it be the Comorant or the Pelican?
Thanks,
John

Cormorant/Pelican is the same, other choices were the Flying Lady or the plain bail cap.

In the 1934 Accessory Catalog they called it a Pelican. In other years they called in a Cormorant - call it what you wish.

The introduction of the Coat of Arms and Crest of the old English Packard family was adopted by the Packard Company in 1930, as a mark of respect to the passing of James Ward and William Packard. In the language of Ancient Heraldry, the Crest is described as......."Gules, a cross lozengy between 4 roses or. A Pelican in her piety"

The full explanation is shown on this Packard Advertisement.

Thanks for all of the responses. I guess we were both correct on this one.

Having seen many Pelicans in my day, I sure wouldn't say it was a Pelican. Mouth/beak/wings way too small.
