I ordered more of the vinyl. i love that this stuff is cheap LOL!
i did one of the window moldings. it turned out decent enough. I wouldn't take it to pebble beach, obviously, but it'll do for me. it has some defects and the paint under the vinyl bubbled in a few places due to the heat gun. 7 more to go....whew! the more I do, the better I get, but if i was you i would get a professional if you want it to be perfect. the vinyl isnt the problem, its my skills. i just like learning new things. i posted alittle bigger pictures, maybe you can make out the defects this time. and you can see the difference from the black it used to be. i like the wood better. the last picture is of how it looked before i started. i saw the wood grain is WAY better.

the key is to use the heat gun on low, burn your fingers, cuss at the pain, and pull on the vinyl very slowly so it doesn't thin too quickly. i had to do it in stages to get it to turn the curve. even still i had a couple of thin spots and a couple where the vinyl broke. the job is a 10 footer, but for normal car shows and driving its perfection.
the upcoming Concours i will be in....it wont be hard for the judges to notice the defects, much less that its vinyl with their trained eyes. but idgaf! i would have offered to do your mouldings, but i had not done mine yet and wasn't sure i could do it. plus i wasn't sure how you would like it even at the best of my ability. I think one of those vinyl car wrapping places could have done way better then me, but i'm cheap lol! thanks for the tip of the hat good sir!

I was sitting here thinking about how the car used to look when my Grandfather owned it. so i went back to the video i have of it. while looking at the interior i noticed something.....there is supposed to be a window moulding around the divider window inside, which is now missing for whatever reason. how the hell do you not put that back on! i mean how the hell do you even begin to find a replacement one of this car! i also noticed how the window crank was changed to something non 37. I already knew this as the crank handle has a plastic knob on it instead of metal like all the others. I believe it should look like all the other window crank handles and it is in the video i just watched. the jump seat handles were on it in the video too....and missing when i got the car....thanks to Mike i have new ones on it now though. the company that overhauled the car in the mid 2000s....bankrupt and no longer there. can't ask them. wth happened to this divider! blows my mind. sorry...just bitching.

No idea how hard something like that divider molding would be to find but with your talent I'd bet you could pick up a few woodworking skills in short order to make one out of real wood. Glue up a rectangle, and with a router or shaper put in some curves to duplicate the windows. You could make it out of home center moldings or inexpensive wood and then use your vinyl to make it match the others.

hmmmmmmm....maybe glue several pieces of wood together....sketch out the design..cut it out..sand it to shape and vinyl coat it. a good long term project to work on in the future. good idea!
i could even roll the window down, tape a piece of carboard to the other side and trace out the opening to transfer to the wood.

I have a lead on a solution for the divider window moulding. standby for a future update on that.

thanks to those that have PMed me with information about the parts for the car that I'm missing!
Here is a shout out to HH. thanks for the idea about the temp sender extension. here it is installed. it does read a bit high because the tube does not stick out of the extension, even though I'm sure fluid is hitting it. the temp gauge was reading 200 idling in the garage. but I know that is off a bit because the extension is sitting up in the air and soaking in heat from the head. when I revved the motor and held it at what I thought it would be at normal road speeds the temp dropped to 185. based on the fact that I took a reading at the top of the radiator tank with the same gauge and it was 175 at idle...I say a margin of error of 10% on the gauge because of the way it is mounted. at least it gives me some indication of what it is doing. its better then nothing. and even though this extension says for autometer gauges only....it fit my cheap ass ones fine. For unknown reasons when I bought it my '34 had an extension fitted to the cylinder head for the temperature gauge bulb. As the bulb was no longer in the actual flow of coolant at normal driving conditions it consistently read about 20? F below the actual temperature; when it read 190? you know you were really about 210? and ready to boil. In due course I removed it and fitted it correctly and the gauge is very accurate, to within a few degrees of temperature of the top radiator tank.
