Adding the Packard accessory oil filter is simple, it's quite commonly done.

Used 48-54 filters should be a dime a dozen at our various vendors or from those with parts cars. Be sure to get one from those years where the inlet in on the side and outlet is at the bottom. Prewar and some aftermarket filters were opposite and not correct for later engines.

You can get a complete assy with all the lines and fittings or just get the canister and use premade lengths of 1/4 steel brake line from the parts store or use 1/4 copper and make up the lines yourself.

In addition to the filter and lines you will need
2-- 1/8 male NPT x 1/4 female inverted flare 90 degree elbows for the canister
1 -- 1/8 male NPT x 1/4 female inverted flare straight connector for the return to crankcase. Those are all common store bought items.

The one you won't find at the store is the 4 way fitting at the engine where the oil feed takes off. That is a two 1/8 NPT x two 1/4 female inverted flare. Packard may have made that in house or had it done special so try to get it with the filter.

If you can't find the 4 way then add another 1/8 NPT x 1/4 female inverted flare tee by using a 1/8 close nipple between the two. Packard did that in 41 before they went to the 4 way but the end result is not as clean and compact an install.

I'd imagine Ross would have a filter and all the fittings necessary. You could PM him through the link?
