Our '37 Super Eight LeBaron A/W Town Car was sold in Evanston. I don't know if there was any other dealership other than the one on Railroad.
Back in 1992 when I was consulting at Purdue, I went up to the Dawes Historical Association looking for some tidbits to find the original owner of our TC. I thought I might find a picture of some ground-breaking ceremony with the car in the background...no luck...however, I did get a copy of a story about the Dawes Historical Association. My father died in 1961 at the age of 54. He was in WW2 and settled back in Evanston when he was discharged in 1945. I believe he went to work for the Packard dealership at that time. He received his Master Mechanic Certificate in 1950. He moved our family to Wisconsin in 1951, so I believe he worked for Packard from 1945-1950. A little amusing story. When he moved us to Wisconsin, it was to a very small town of about 350 people and it was in a farming area. We came to town in a big Packard. My dad always told us the story that he took so much grief about driving such a fancy car in our little town that he sold it and bought a Chevy or Ford. I believe my father developed his love for Packards when he emigrated to the United States from Sweden. He got a job in Chicago as a chauffeur, and he said the people he drove for had Packards.
