Gentlemen, I feel sure I can offer some advice that might come in useful one day.
If, regarding your favorite car that you have owned for decades, poured many hours of work into, love driving; if your better half ever says "Either that car goes, or I go." then shake her hand, offer to help her pack her suitcase, and make sure she has enough money for the taxi fare. It is the least you can do. I know I am being sentimental, but I hope this helps. Gary49
