G'day 28Mack,

to PackadInfo but sorry I can't help with your request.

Instead I invite you to include your '30 740 in PackardInfo's Packard Vehicle Registry.

Try John Ulrich, Oakland, CA. John's a good man, knowledgeable, reasonable. Specializes in 1928-47 Packard parts.

Please tell him Mike, Walnut Creek, CA referred you:

The bad news is: 1930 8-bolt 19" wire wheels are rare as hen's teeth owing to the fact they were only used on low-production 740s and 745s. (The 1930 junior models used 7 bolt 20" wire wheels so they are not interchangeable.)

The good news is: the hubs are the same as 1929 8-bolt 20" wire wheels which were used on all four of the Packard models that year and are therefore much more common. If you have 1929 wheels, you can buy new 19" rims, have them dimpled, punched and then re-spoked to the 1929 hubs. Dayton Wire Wheel will do the dimpling and respoking for about $800 per wheel and voila! you have your 740 19" wire wheels.

It so happens I recently went through this process and have two extra 1929 wire wheels and two extra 19" rims made by Veteran Car Rims out of the UK.

If your search doesn't pan out, perhaps we can make a deal. Feel free to personal message me here.

Thank you Rob. The two rims I need is for the spare tires. I wonder if a different year model would look the same as the 19” wheels ?

Not sure if this got resolved but I have 2 19" rims with 7 bolt hubs. I understand they are the same hubs used on 29 Packard with 20' wheels. I had these in my side mounts and they looked good. Will sell for $ 200 ea. with lock rings. I was told these were for a 29 Hudson but they used the same hubs as Packard 7 bolt.

I may be interested. The studs on the spare tire bracket may be the problem.
