Want a parts car for our 1946 Packard

We are renovating a 1946 Packard Clipper Deluxe, two door Club Coupe. Since we haven't found most of the parts that we need, we are looking for a parts car that could donate mostly interior parts (this car has previously been stored outside with a cracked windscreen). We are also looking for trim pieces, but we are fortunate enough to have all the body parts that we need. Therefore, any 1942 - 1947 Packard could probably donate most of the parts we need.

I cannot help with a parts car but as to any model supplying the parts you need, depending on exactly what is needed that may be wishful thinking. I would suggest you specify you are looking for another 2 door since a lot of sedan parts will not fit. 2 door models seem to be in higher demand than sedans to the point basket cases have been restored so it may be harder or more expensive to find one in bad enough shape that parting is the only option. With your car missing so many pieces it almost sounds like that could have been the fate of all those pieces that are probably now in previously restored 2 doors.

Dash parts will be the same on all as will some of the other minor parts but there is quite a bit of difference between the coupe and sedan interiors in just about everything else. Seats, length and shape of interior chrome pieces are only a start.

We are not missing so much, but everything that is in or under the dash are in a terrible condition. Whatever else we could get from a parts car would be a bonus, two or four door doesn't matter as long as everything in the dash is the same. We have been told that 42, 46 and 47 have the same instruments, switches, trim pieces and dash, and probably the same heater and miscellaneous other parts that might be useful for our restoration.
Whatever we don't use for this restoration, we will gladly put up for sale here when we are done.

46 and 47 models are identical 21st series so would be the best option. 20th series 42 dash has same dash layout and switches but speedo and clock are a bit different. 42 instrument face color is slightly different and lettering is heavier and more block shaped so mixing 42 with 46-7 instruments in the same dash would be noticeable. The more common dual stream underseat heater and separate defroster/footwarmer are the same from 42-7 but if an optional deluxe single box combo defroster/heater is involved that is quite different as is the dash switch.

Hi. Not sure where you are located but saw this 1946 on Craigslist in California. It is way over priced but has been for sale for over a month now and the seller may be willing to come to earth.

https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/newberry-springs-1946-packard-limo/7680985333.html

Here is another one in Fort Worth, TX, but the seller is absolutely insane with his asking price. This is a parts car and you could get a pretty decent driver in this condition:

This car is in Florida:

Found this one in Oklahoma. It is listed as a 1941, but the dash style indicates that it is a 1942 model, so some of the interior parts could be used on your '46 model:

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your answers. A couple of days ago, we went to Rochester, NY, and picked up a parts car. Special thanks to George who gave us a very good deal on what we needed. Now we have a lot of work to do, but we are working on it...
