New Packard owner needs help!

Hello all!

First off, if Ive posted in the wrong section - I apologize.

I just bought an all original '53 Packard Clipper in pretty great and super restorable shape!

I'm curious as to the exact model, the VIN plate is in great shape but I cannot find a VIN Decoder.

I believe the car is a Clipper Deluxe, it has the correct trim/chrome, but we all know people can change that around.

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks all!!

Brett

Congratulations. Here is a link to the service counselor that will have all the specs and wiring diagram once you determine your model.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/SC/SC-VOL26NO11.pdf, and here is the front page of that issue. The vin plate will have the first 4 digits as the model the last ones separated by the dash will be the sequence number in production starting, I believe, at 1001. There is also a stamped engine number located usually middle to rear on the drivers side just below the head on a smoothed surface. Here is a link to the engine number chart so you can tell what you have & if correct.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/PackardEngineSerials.pdf

G'day Brett,
A warm to PackardInfo to you and your '53. After you've nailed down the model info would you be so kind as to include the '53 in the Owner Registry together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?

Brett,
That was quick! for including your '53 in the Registry. Great story too about how you acquired her.

Brett,
Welcome from a fellow 1953 Packard Clipper Deluxe owner! There are plenty of knowledgeable people here that can help you. I do not claim to be as knowledgeable as most of them, but I am restoring the same car as you, so we can exchange notes or info if you like. You may want to look at my Project Blog here-Ken's 1953 Packard Clipper Deluxe Touring Sedan. Best of luck!
