Yocum Estate Photos

I spent about 6 hours scanning over 600 photos from the collection of Dan Yocum. Most of these are snap shots taken at various Packard Tours and Gatherings in the mid-60s. It amazes me the amount of Pre-War Vehicles that were still being driven on these tours. As these photos are of various year models and some contain multiple models I have uploaded them to the Unfilled Category for the moment.

Also in the collection were stills from several movies that had Packards in them. Those were added to to a new photo category called "Packards in Movies"

Also there were several more Packard Adverts, those have been added to their appropriate category.

There were a couple of pictures of the Balboa, and Request that appeared to be clipped from magazines. Those were put into the Show and Concept cars category.

Enjoy.

If any of the Forum Ambassadors would like to try to file them, PLEASE do so. I am sure I could pick out most of the Post War cars given enough time, but the Pre-War iron is not my forte.

Also most of the Movie Photos have little notes on them about the movie. But I did a batch import so them probably need to have their descriptions updated to suit.

I still have a small pile left to scan, but it when the clock said it was 4am neither my wife nor my back was happy I was still crouched over my scanner.

I may also sell off some of the Literature Collection that are duplicates. For example I have several sets of 55-56 Service Counselors, and 55-56 Service Manuals etc. All proceeds I will put back in the website. I would sell these off at the PI Swap-meet coming up. But I don't want to be tied down to a table and not able to walk around and I am going alone and have no one to mind the store.

Kev,

Had a go and reduced the total somewhat, mostly 1940 & 41. Some with 2 Packards in shot I have identified one as a '40 or '41 and added a comment for the person who identifies the other Packard to copy and include the copied pic in '40 or '41.

And on a lighter note - below are some of the pic's which caught my eye on the way through.

EDIT - Gerd, there are a couple in there which will catch your interest.

Yeah those same photos caught my eye also. I created a new Photo Category for the ZIL, ZIS, etc.

I am 100% sure the Caribbean paint is not original, but a 60's repaint.

Hey Guys:

Got a small problem here. I have viewed the photos that were posted and on 2 of them: Freedom for Sale and The Fighting Irish, I can find no credit in the IMDB movie data base. I went so far as to look up the actors and check their credits and dates with the date listed for the movie in the pictures and they simply are not listed anywhere. My conclusion is that these movies were never released nor did they escape. So based on that, since my Roster is 90% gleaned from IMDB, and the other 10% from either other people and the other movie DB that lists all makes, should I list these two movies or not?

Possible that these were working names of the movies and they may have been released under a different final title. Or perhaps as you said these productions were never released.

I was correct on the names changing before release:

'Freedom for Sale" it's release name was 'Parole Racket' (1937).http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=86281

'The Fighting Irish' it's release name was 'Knute Rockne--All American' (1940).
http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=80476

You may remember Ronald Reagan's famous "Win one for the Gipper" speech in this movie.

edit see below

Tuner Classic Movies has it's own Movie Database that shows the alternate titles for the productions. Movies may have been release in different markets under different titles. Or if a movie was released in a test market and didn't catch on, then it may have retitled and released again to see if the new title drew more people.

Am wondering of another possibility for the fighting Irish. By names & characters and studio on typewritten tag, think this also a consideratation.
