I dont understand how slowly dripping oil into the intake charge is supposed to "reduce" carbon buildup. You would think it would increase it.

My apologies to the poster, but I just have to say that the museum Gerd posted the link to has me thinking I need to visit Germany sometime in the not terribly distant future. I just spent 30 minutes looking around the website. It is just amazing how this website brings people with a common interest together from around the world and exposes us to experiences and information we would likely never have the opportunity to learn about.

So many interesting places to visit, so little time to do so. Isn't the web great!

It's funny to see what folks "swear" by.

The additive market has always existed. Due to stronger compounds, most are added and diluted through the fuel tank now. Personally, I use Lucas products. But MMO has great benefits as a stabilizer and lubricant.

Though first thought would make fouled plugs and excessive carbon deposits, it does the complete opposite. It's even good to replace about a half quart of your oil with some about every other oil change. Besides, it smells good.

You have a real neat piece of history there. I'd leave it on just for the coolness factor. And if you do hook it up, it runs into a vacuum line on the carb.

If it wasn't for those meddling kids, and their dog too...

In the days before leaded gas and detergent oil valve and ring wear were much more of a problem than today. A MMO could significantly reduce upper cylinder, ring and valve wear extending engine life between overhauls.

Now that they have gone back to unleaded gas and low zinc oil if I had one on my car I would use it.

There is an upper cylinder lubricant system fitted to, and presumably still functioning, on the '54 Clipper Super Club Sedan one of our club members brought in recently from the US.

Mal, next time you have the opportunity, I'd like to know who was the maker of that particular unit.

Also when convenient, would you be so kind as to send me the diameter (or circumference, I can divide by pi) of the muffler on Wade's 34 Eight, and it's shell length?
