Help!

I have a replacement complete differential carrier and gears. The parts # on the case is 319965. The case currently in the care has part # 347390. The one in the car also has what looks like a thrust adjustment on the left side of the case, the replacement does not.

Will the "replacement" (319965) fit in my axle?

Background:[/size]

On the Great Race in 2005 we blew the rear end out of our '41 120 Coupe in Kentucky. We were able to patch it together with Dodge, Toyota, and whatever parts; and finish the race (another 3500 miles). We had a new "pumpkin" shipped to us in Tennessee, but decided to not install it as sleep was more important. I am finally getting around to putting it in the car. I will be sending it out to be worked on, but I don't want to spend the $$ if it will not fit in my rear axle.

Any help will be greatly appreciated as we are trying to get ready to run the VCRA event in San Marcos Texas in March.

Many Thanks!

The differential with the pinion thrust bearing externally adjustable from the outside of the case is a senior car differential and not original to a 120. I have no information on interchangeability but can suggest you look it up in Hollanders.

Thanks for the info!

I did a little more checking. The prior owner had replaced the differential in the past. I talked with him, and he confirmed that it was a senior unit. The axle housing, however was the original. Our "new" unit should fit fine.

Thanks, Pat

Pat n' Pat,

Have just pulled the rear end from my '41 120 Coupe, see my Project Blog for more details. The diff centre is # 319965, see pic's below.
