1934 Eight Rear Axle Inner Oil Seals

I'm getting ready to pull the drums and axles of my 34 Eight to repack the wheel bearings, replace the seals, grease the brake cables and cams, etc. Having a bit of a problem with the inner oil seals.

These seals, Packard p/n 170290, were used on all Eights and Super Eights 1933 thru 1936 except those few 1933 Eights with 15 inch brakes. I got the outer seals but Kanter doesn't have the inners so I pulled one from a spare rear axle housing. Axle shaft OD at the seal surface is 1-5/8, old seal thickness is 15/32, and the OD of the seal (which probbly had a bit of crush from installation) measured 2.435.

Does anyone have a current seal manufacturer and part # for this application? Many years ago I jotted down 450065 or 450066 in my parts book next to 170290, but don't recall the difference in the two, or whether they were Chicago Rawhide, National, or another maker's number. Anyone recognize the numbers?

A possible seal, another very old #, would appear to be a Trostel T50066 which has an OD of 2.441 and otherwise the same. I also note the similarity between the Trostel # and number from an unknown maker, 450066.

Appreciate any help.
Dave

Thanks JD, that's helpful. I would seem that the #s I had of 450065 and 450066 are National Seal #s and that's more than I knew before. 450065 is for a shaft a bit smaller than my 1-5/8 and I tried to find the data for 450066 but was unsuccessful, perhaps I just didn't navigate the site correctly. In any case, we're closer than I was before, and thanks.

UPDATE: Just checked the Timkin seal interchange file and found that National 450066 is still a current number and the Timken seals use the same numbers. Among the interchanges are Trostel 50066 an Chicago Rawhide A10278.

Problem solved, thanks. Off to NAPA.

Dave, will also need the inner seals. 450066 is the correct inner seal?
