HH56 posted: Until O_D or someone has real Packard material, here is something from the Eleventh edition of Motors Auto Repair Manual

The data given in the Standard Auto-Electrician's Manual of 1934 is far more comprehensive than information provided in any Packard or other material I have. I thought putting it in a separate post might make it easier for others to find in the future.

I'll add the small bit on Startix from Motors Eleventh edition over here as well.

Showing my ignorance: on cars of the era with Startix was there ever a need to have the ign key on and no engine running? Anything available then such as playing the radio or having something controlled by turning key to acc position or was it all or nothing.

I saw the little bit about the Electrolock on some cars or removing and taping a terminal when doing point adjustments to keep the mechanism from operating on others but nothing mentioned for an owner. Did Packard use the 3 position key?

HH56, I've been around plenty of Startix-equipped cars, Packards and others, but never had occasion to examine them closely. On my 34 (without Startix) the ignition key has the normal three positions: off in the center, accessories to the left, and ignition to the right. The starter solenoid will activate in either accessory or ignition, but the engine will only start in the ignition position as the coil circuit is not activated in the accessory position.

The wiring diagrams in the A.E.A. manual and on the PAC website do show (dotted lines) the incorporation of the Startix unit.
