Back Door OPEN!

Today I was on a mission, a mission to open at least one of those back doors. I un-bolted the hinges to the passenger rear door, gave a few precisely placed kicks, and POW! The door finally gave after a year of trying, on and off that is. The latch mechanism is shot though. The teeth on it are almost completely missing.

Also, I got some photos of the items that were generously donated to me from HotRod. I still owe you by the way! The seats, fender skirts, and gas door bling, all look great on this car. Can't wait to get on the road!

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I am kicking myself in the butt for missing the show. I'll be there next year.

Are you are of the upcoming show in Smithville on April 28? It is being put on by the same organization the used to do the Vets Day show in Balstrop. See you there?

JW,

I was not aware of that one. Gonna have to look up where Smithville is. I may or may not be able to make it, due to the condition the car is in as of now. I will have to make a trip to John's Salvage to get the latch mechanism for the rear door. And, I have to try to get these brakes bled, which has been a nightmare. So there is a chance I could make it, but I'm leaning towards doubtful.

Is there usually a big showing at Smithville?

You know what, I think you are right, disregard that. Man, they look so much alike. I think Packard should sue! lol

I figured it said "Mercury", because it was parked outside Mercury Charlie's shop. ooops.

That same door was stuck on mine as well, and a swift kick from the inside while holding the holding the door handle was also required to open it.

Mine just had 20+ years of dirt cemented in to the door jam.
