Was he successful? I thought the bottom ends were supposed to be a bit weak for that kind of treatment.

To add further details...it was Lou Senter's Packard V-8 powered dragster (rail) that was the very FIRST such race car to REACH 150 MPH. I made a post about this also, some time ago. I was never able to find a picture that I could share, but I see someone was able to locate one... EDIT: And I also see the thread title references the 150 MPH feat....
