1950 Packard Trunk Pan

I have a New Trunk Pan for my 50 Packard.

By looking at Service Manual it appears this is to curve down at the rear.

The current sheet metal appears to roll over and then curves down.

There are also body nuts to mount the filler panel for the rear bumper so I also need to locate holes.

Looked in Parts Plates but can not find part drawing of trunk pan.

Ideal would be a cross-section.

Does anyone have more details or know where I may find them?

THANKS for the Help
Casel

I don't think you are going to find any great detail in the parts book.

The 47 uses the same 392607 trunk floor pan. I also bought the same repro piece with the same portion needed. Haven't decided exactly how I will do mine but am thinking it is going to be a process of two or three strips welded together. Not sure if a single piece with a sharp bend will shrink or stretch into the rounded curve well enough. Be interested to hear what you are planning.

On the cross section drawing, one thing I can think of that might be worth pursuing is contact the people that have the blueprints and see if by some chance that part number is one of them. If they have it, the nominal charge might be money well spent. Whether they have the time to look for details and see if that bent over portion and hole locations is included on the print before you buy it is unknown.

I don't remember the contact person's name offhand but others should be able to post the info before too long. If not, I will find and post it.

EDIT: 4/11/14 -- here is contact info from March News Bulletin ad.

THANKS SO MUCH for the Info.

Just wrote the Blue Print folks and will keep you posted.

If I can determine a radius and dimension then I will share as a reference for all.

Have a GREAT ONE and I will also post in the Registery.

Hi:
I also live in KY and also have a 1950 Packard. My trunk pan is original and complete. Are you close to Lexington?

If Blevins doesn't have the dwg, he might refer you to the Studebaker Museum. The archivist there is Andrew Beckman abeckman@studebakermuseum.org They have all the other Packard dwgs/info.
If that's a 23 series, it's probably similar to mine(49 - 23).
The factory trunk pan has a J channel rolled on the edge.
The C2C replacement out there is flat. So if you can't reuse the original channel for attachemnt due to rust, you're going to have to make a channel piece (ledge) to attach the pan to.
I'm thinking of doing it with L shaped pieces so I can shrink and stretch around the curves. The outer skin and splash pan screws/bolts into the J at the bottom, so it's got to be there for stock. I'm going custom rear pans, so I'll attach by a different method.
