Where are your Packards?

I'm an inveterate promotor of the Packard Owner's Registry on this Site. As such I've created two threads to direct attention to the Packard Owner's Registry, this one:

Recent additions to the Owner Registry

and, this one:

Owner Registry - Time to get on board!

In addition where a Forum Member makes their 1st post I invite them to include their Packard/s in the Packard Owner's Registry. When Packard/s are included I thank Forum members whether I've requested them to include their Packard/s or if it is unsolicated by me.

Besides soliciting Packard Owner's Registry entries I also maintain the Registry so to keeps its integrity in regard to keeping out duplicate entries, noting when a Packard is sold and adjusting entries as required.

However my main focus is to grow the Registry so that it contains as many Packards of our members as possible. I started my campaign in this regard back in Feb 2008 when there were 100 Packards from the 587 members on Site at that time.

Since then the Registry has grown with milestones being recorded as follows:

Nov 2008 - 250 - 830 members = 0.3 Packards per member
Oct 2009 - 500 - 1642 members = 0.3 Packards per member
Nov 2010 - 750 - 2795 members = 0.27 Packards per member
May 2012 - 1000 - 3798 members = 0.26 Packards per member
Dec 2013 - 1250 - 5107 members = 0.24 Packards per member
Nov 2015 - 1500 - 5957 members = 0.25 Packards per member
Nov 2017 - 1750 - 7005 members = 0.25 Packards per member

Currently there are 1800 Packards and 7070 members.

While I hope some of the Packards being added to the Packard Owner's Registry are a result of my promotional efforts I'll never really know. However the "rate" of Packard per member has slowed somewhat over time. And while not all members would own Packards I believe the vast majority would own at least one and possibly more than one Packard.

Hence my question, Where are your Packards? If they are not in the Packard Owner's Registry they're probably sitting in your garage where no one can see them.

Accordingly, if you read this and have not yet entered your Packard/s into the Packard Owner's Registry I urge you: "to linger no longer", "put off procrastinating" or just plain "get off your a$$" and add your Packards NOW! At least that way other Packard loving members WILL see 'em.

I'm looking forward to having difficulty in keeping up with the response as I acknowledge each and every "new" Packard as it joins its brother and sister Packards in the Packard Owner's Registry!

Hmmm, wonder if the inclusion of Gerry's '55 Four Hundred Hardtop was the result of the above post?
Feedback welcomed. Barbs and arrows not so much.

Forgot to include "advice" in the first post that a photo is always welcome. And you can use this FAQ to help in their uploading.

And please include as much information as possible as well as any stories that add to or compliment the history of your Packard.

Thank you Ozstatman for your labor of love in maintaining the registry .....Until I read your post I did not have any idea how many Packard's the registry contains and was blown away by the membership count at 7070 members. KUDOS!!

"I......was blown away by the membership count at 7070 members."

Steve,

Concerning the number of members, if BigKev hadn't carried out a number of "purges" of inactive members over the years that figure would have been even higher but not representative. In fact Kev probably should carry out another purge in the near future to more correctly reflect our active membership. Hope Kev's shoulders are broad enough to carry the load I'm trying to foist on him, but with the sobriquet of BigKev he should be up to it if it has a high enough priority.
Sorry for dobbing you in Kev.

My wife and I recently, (2 weeks ) acquired our first Packard. It is a 1950 8 sedan. I had it towed from the seller to my mechanic who thankfully enjoys working on things like this although he only tinkers on it in his spare time. I will add it to the registry when I have the numbers in front of me and it is home for a pic. This car was owned by a fellow named Malumphy who passed away in 2011. Upon the passing of his wife earlier this year the car was sold, at auction I believe, to the man I got it from. It is in very nice condition and appears to be low mileage. I think this car was a regular at events near south western Ct. and may be familiar to some here.
i look forward to using these forums in the future and thank you all in advance. Don Rounds

Many of us here in the northeast fondly remember Dan Malumphy and his Packards.

Hmmmm......obviously from the response( Gerry) all Forum Members Packards are now in the Registry.

Will now have to rely on new members adding their Packards to keep the Registry growing.

With the rate of Packards being added to the Registry slowing over time the next milestone of 2,000 Packards, based on the following table, will be reached at the end of 2019 or later.

250 to 500 - 11 months
500 to 750 - 13 months
750 to 1000 - 18 months
1000 to 1250 - 18 months
1250 to 1500 - 23 months
1500 to 1750 - 24 months

Or....tell me I'm wrong by adding your Packard/s. My typing finger is still itching and poised waiting to welcome more Packards on board.
