On my 1939 Packard 120 I have Delco shock absorbers - has anyone ever striped one of these down and repaired it themself?,and what is it that must be renewed, and how? as i am sure there must be some one who has - mine are leaking from the arms where it (pivets)up and down,
there is no one here that can help me as they only repair the new type of shocks. When they see what i have they ask-what is it? say no more! Bill.

Bill,

I was lucky, there's an old guy here in Sydney who rebuilt the shocks for my '41 a few years ago, but he now professes he doesn't want to do it anymore.

However Apple Hydraulics in the US may have rebuild kits. Also I think Kanters and Max Merritt have an exchange service for shocks too but you then have to factor in the two-way shipping charges for these heavy parts plus the cost for the rebuilt units.

I highly reccommend Five Points. I've personally had problems with the other place, and others have told me similar stories.

....or your friendly local Packardinfo parts seller can sell you a pair outright...probably 2 USPS flat rate boxes. Price....hmmm...based on the cost of rebuiding, I'd say $390.12 for the pair.

I had good experiences from Five Points also including rebuiding both front and the transverse rear one on my '47. I recommend them also.

Without resorting to flaming attacks, I shall add fuel to the fire of referral by personal experience that Five Points has let me down. Indeed, the fire of referral can burn too.
