I am trying to determine the original paint scheme for my 526. While the wheels were re-painted on the outside the inside of the disc wheels appear to still have the original color with is a light green. Carefully scraping away paint on the outside does show what appears to be a gold pinstripe. From this information the car might be painted with Paint Scheme "J" with would have been black, Chicadee Green, and Drake Green. Does anybody have a photograph of the paint chips so that I can determine if the colors I have found on the car match any of these? I have attached a photo of the wheel and if this is Paint Scheme 'J' then the wheel color is Chicadee Green.

Does this wheel look like it is painted Chicadee Green?
Does anybody know what Drake Green looks like?

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome, sorry Rob I can't help with determining color questions. But...this is a great place (forum) to get most Packard, etal., questions answered. More knowledgeable members may have more information.

Rob, I suggest you make contact with Jim Pearsall of Zarepath, NJ, I don't know of anyone more familiar with paint colors on Packards of this vintage. You'll find his contact info in your Packard Club membership directory. Or send me a PM for tha info.

While you're waiting for advice on paint color, I invite you to include your '28 526 Sedan in the Packard Owner's Registry.

In the Registry you'll find other 526 owners!

I have contacted Jim Pearsall about this and he did not have color information. He did provide me with a copy of the salesman's book which lists the paint codes and names the colors. I need to find somebody with photos of paint chips of the 1928 5 series colors.

Thanks. I did fill out the form for the registry but my car is not there yet. Is there a review period by the admin before it is posted or did I goof up?

Also, is there a way to contact the person responsible for the registry? The body numbers that are defaulted for the 5th series are incorrect. It shows the 4 door sedan as 323 and it is actually 303. This error also exists in Kimes book on Packard.

you might try and google Drake Green Dupont-it does show a paint color which looks very much like the wheel drum in your picture
