Having my 356 rebuilt. So far so good. Currently can't find lifter followers under hydraulic lifters. These are the parts cam lobes hit. I also need the exhaust manifold. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Please respond to

Thanks, pat t

I got my cam followers (aka Hydraulic Lifter Bodies) from Terrill Machine. That was in 2008.

Depending on how worn they are, they can be resurfaced, any of the better camshaft grinders/polishers perform this service. The hardening is fairly thick so a light resurfacing is not an issue, I've gone this route a couple of times.

Thanks for help with all my past posts. I have my 356 back from rebuilder and now need to assemble. Like an idiot I thought I'd be reassembling it about 2 yrs ago and now, because i'm an old guy, can't remember exactly what it looked like. Brackets, linkages, etc. are totally forgotten. Anyone know of a good illustration of parts? I have a parts list, copied from this site, but it is just a list. My gasket set is somewhat confusing also as the front plate in back of timing cover obviously needs to be sealed but gaskets differ slightly from front to back. I think I know correct placement but sure would like to see a diagram to be sure. Any ideas would be really appreciated. The tappet bodies from Terrill Machine in Texas worked out great. Good shop to deal with also. This is an awesome site wish the Hudson site was as good for assistance with my 41!!!!

G'day Pat,

Don't know if this will help but a mate's '41 356 was re-assembled over a period. Required some work before being dropped into the chassis and most things hooked up. Started just over a year ago in this post from my Wade's Workshop Blog. Hope there's something in there which assists, but could take a lot of reading amongst the plethora of other stuff!

Have a look at the 1948-54 parts book illustrations. Plate numbers 85, 90, 91 and 92 are specific to the 356 engine.
