Good for you--my '40 110 looked much worse (well, still does) than yours, but mechanically she's in good shape.

The first question we have for this project is whether these holes are supposed to be here. If so, what are they for? I have not seen any pics of something going there.
 Also, if you guys can point me to any build threads where someone has gone through this journey, that would be greatly appreciated. I have been digging, but there are a lot :)

Ok, we are getting ready to see if we can get this thing running. First concern is this regulator, which is probably junk. I don't "think" this is original. Any tips one what to replace this with?
Here are some pics + the generator.

Regulators can almost always be repaired. They usually just need some TLC.
I am going to work on mine this week and post a video on how to work on one, if you want to wait a few days.
