It is an 8, Bryan, apparently the fellow that owns it doesn't know himself, he said it was a 6. But upon closer examination of the picture it is an 8 (282).

The 55 Clipper in post 2854 has overdrive. That would be a hoot to drive.

Emails to the 42 Clipper A/C car seller have received bad responses. He confirmed it was a "V6 Elite" and when I corrected him politely, he told me to... well you know.
That's too bad. Project cars have a hard enough time getting restored. Yes, it would be fun to have an early A/C car but the bottom line is, visually - you are just getting a 42 Packard Clipper. Which is fine, I really like 42 Packard 120 inch wheelbase cars. (Or bigger).

I restore the car, and the car restores me.

Interesting he's an ass for letting that car go downhill so badly, and an ass in trying to converse in an intelligent conversation.

According to parts manual AC was available on all prewar Clipper models except the taxi. Howard (HH56), it is not easy to understand the reason for this limitation. Men, who sat their whole day in the car and earned money by help of a Packard could not order A/C?

Here is the ad for the car as it appeared in 1988. It had just 38,000 miles on it.!!!

Gerd, that is a good point but in some cases I wonder how effective it would have been since it was in the trunk. A lot of cabs of that era were what I think was called New York Taxis. Those had a partition separating the driver and passenger so doubt he would have gotten much benefit. I think also that most cabs then were owned by companies and not drivers. I doubt they would care to spend what was a fairly large amount of money on driver comfort. I expect taxi drivers were in sort of the same social class as chauffeurs and creature comfort was not a priority.
