Saw that front tire thing also and wondered if it was a crease in the photo but guess not. Seems to be a box under the ph. also.

Two additional pics but seemingly without the extra steps, scraper rings or ... sidescan sonar.

Forgive me to show you another postwar car in a prewar threat. For the Packard-loving Marshal Tito was this
1948 Custom Eight the first choice. It is uncertain if the car is a LWB (side view) but the bulletproof glass is unmissable. Attach file: (30.97 KB)

I'm sure that they put up a good fight to hold the First Philippine Republic but after no more than two years the country disappeared from the political map. Two decades later the former president ascended a mobile throne, a 1924 Packard.
BTW The car looks like a composite works of several car makers. Here are a few pics, taken during restoration. [picture source: www.withonespast.wordpress.com] Attach file: (34.27 KB)

"The car looks like a composite works of several car makers"
Gerd, For a start the side-on view in the Facebook pic plus the pic you posted would confirm your statement, as they are Model A Ford wheels as well as it being a Model A front axle(I think?).

Always the same with you. When I come with Ford parts then your predator-prey system triggers alarm. How about the radiator and the headlights?

Gerd,
The radiator shell doesn't look quite "right". Don't know if it's the camera angle or if it's a recreation. I've had a look at pictures from that era but someone well versed in that eras Packards would be better placed to comment. I think the headlight is OK, pic below of one seen a couple of weeks ago "on the shelf".
