The hubcaps in the attached pic of a '41 120 Sedan(pic from Aussie eBay Item number: 330756098915) have a Packard script crossing a red hexagon. I have only seen one other set of these Packard script hubcaps on a '41, my '41 120 Club Coupe, it came with them when I bought it in 2007 from the US. Just been through 241 pictures in the Photo Archive for 1941 and found maybe 2 pic's, this and this both Henneys which might have the script on them. But getting old and with sight failing even a dog and a stick couldn't help me in viewing them! Joking aside, are these rare or are they from another year or what?

And Kev, there's now 240 pic's in the 1941 Photo Archive after I moved one to 1938 where it belonged. Probably should be 239 pic's because this entry doesn't have a picture!

they were used on the 18th series (1940)

So that's why I couldn't find them in the '41 pic's!

18th series, all models early on (although I think there were different sizes between the Junior and Senior cars). The 180s later got a different cap with the cloisonnet medallion.

While that hubcap will fit your 1941 120 it is not technically correct. What your are looking for is shown below - it says "Packard 120." They are also correct for the 18th or 1940 cars. The same years (1940 & 41) the One Ten had a similar hub cap that had, "Packard 110."

For a long time the specific model (110, 120, 160, and 180) were not being reproduced so a lot of guys would find a hub cap that would fit. Thus, you see Packard script hub caps on those cars.

These hub caps are now being reproduced and sold by Kanter and Hirsch for about $80 - $85 each. I don't know if they use the same manufacturer.

Hi Roger: You might want to recheck your sources on that hubcap information. I didn't check the parts book myself but I just received the following email from one of the manufacturers of the repro hubcaps.

the hubcap he pictures is 356176 which says " PACKARD 120/ PACKARD 120" AND IS IN THE PARTS BOOK AS FITTING 1801/1940 120 ONLY, not 1941

The only correct hubcaps for 1941 120 are of the same size, with the same 3 ribs but the center reads "PACKARD/PACKARD" in block letters part #373597, it is also listed in the parts book for 1801 and the 1941 Clipper

Well that required a little research. Attached is a scan from page 15 of the 1941 Data Book, dated September 1940. It reads, in part, "Hub caps are UNCHANGED, (my emphasis) and not only show the Packard name a model number...."

Also is a photo that clearly shows the "Packard 120" on the hub cap.

This would indicate to me that this hub cap is for both years - 1940 and 1941.

Additionally, Hirsch (where I bought a second set of hub caps) shows on their website that the same hub cap is for both years.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=PACHUB-131

I saw Kanter's ad in the CNB and they list they have hub caps that fit the 120 for years 1937 through 1941, but I could not find any photos or fitment specs on their web site.

For me the Data Book says it all -- "...hub caps are unchanged..."

Roger, I really don't know, as I said I was relaying info received from a hub cap vendor. But it wouldn't be the first time that information in the Data Book was revised by the time actual production began, or revised during production. And it wouldn't be the first time information in the parts book was wrong either.

PS - my own 1941 120 which I bought in 1957 as a pretty much untouched car had caps that said "PACKARD - PACKARD - " for whatever that's worth.

Hey this is a great discussion!

We can all agree on one thing: The Packard script Cover (as they call it) was 1940 only and 1940 could have either script or block letters according to the parts book, but 1941 taxi should have script, and 1941 120 ambulance could have script or Block letters.

Now there is only one part number for Block letter Six and since the data book says the cover has the model number I assume then it says Packard 110.

So I assume Block Letter Packard means no model number and the other part number for the Business cars say Packard 120.

Now things get interesting because in the 1941 Packard sales brochure the cars clearly say Packard 120 and Packard 110 on the hubcaps.

So I think the only way to figure this out is to get mint originals with the part numbers on the back. But beware, I was looking at a set of mint original hubcaps once and they featured a part number that wasn't in any Packard parts book.
