i was wondering if any one had a clue what metal the grill is made out of on a 51 200 deluxe

The bumpers are steel, but the various grille components are made of pot-metal.

Some of the '54 grilles were also "War Chromed" and sprayed with clear lacquer to protect them. That clear finish on my '54 grille has a yellowish tint now.
