Max has a "battery carrier" to fit 35-42 ALL MODELS EXCEPT CLIPPER, is that what you're after?

Mal, I wish it was that easy. The 1930 style box sits in a hole in the right front fender. It is a solid box with a lid to protect the battery from the elements. I have the lid but not the box.

Making the battery box would be a straight forward job for a sheet metal worker. Finding one prepared to do a one off small job may not be so easy. A retired guy with some basic gear at home would be ideal.

Hi Marty, This previous thread has a number of photos and the exact dimensions of the box provided by David M. Can probably get more details from David if needed. Thanks for taking a look! Rob

Checking the parts list for the Seventh and Eighth Series (1930 & 1931) Packards, the Seventh Series used 3 different battery boxes and also 3 different box covers. The 726 & 733 models used the same, but the 740s and 745s used unique boxes for those models only. So the model (wheelbase) of both the car in question and the car shown in the prior thread will need to be determined and compared to make sure the box fabricated for that car will also fit the car in question.

Thanks for the caution, Don. Both cars are 740s, so the David M's should be the same dimensions as mine.

That's certainly a relief. The fit should be perfect since both are 740's.
