What I don’t understand is did the R11 connected to a 327 only supposed to have the rear transmission mount and the front engine mount? And no other mounting spots on the whole of it??? That seems too little support to me, but what do I know

The kickdown is done through the accelerator pedal linkage and is mounted on the other side of the firewall.

This is not the kickdown switch correct? It’s the high beam switch right?

I’m trying to help this guy discover if this donor car he has for me is equipped with an OD

That's the headlight dipper/dimmer switch, which is foot activated. The OD lockout switch, is hand operated, if there is one it is mounted under dash on the right side of the steering column. Note, this is a lockout switch only, the OD governor and solenoid attached directly to the OD and are the parts which make the OD operate.

Unless the car has already been well parted, easiest way to see if car has OD is look for OD relay on the firewall. R9 relay is squarish and black with 6 terminals, R11 relay case is usually silver, has 4 terminals and a fuse on the side.

Kickdown switch is on a bracket below the relays at the bottom of the firewall at the accelerator linkage pivot. The original R9 switch has 2 terminals, R11 switch has 4 terminals and the R11 switch could also be used as a replacement if needed for the 2 terminal.
