If someone "modifies" a car for their own tastes, good luck on selling it.

Let the Buyer Beware is always applicable.

I bought my '37 115c on FBM, ad showed up on a Thursday night, I drove 180 miles to the location bought it for cash and rented a trailer to get it home.

Totally worth it. Frame off, older restoration, not running, same owner for 25 years, parked for the last ten.

Twelve grand. Beautiful car that they spent way too much on to restore. So I enjoy someone else's bad "investment".

---

Sold a 2016 F-150 SuperCrew 4WD last Friday, 145K miles on it, I'd owned it since 2017. Maintained religiously, full records. Clean title. $14.5K, first buyer. Other trucks of that vintage are holding out at 20K and not moving...I wanted it gone and wanted to get what it was worth....that's all. Kid that bought it couldn't believe it.

All that said, that Mayfair cop car was a travesty.

Everything I drive is maintained, but I really need to do a better job at keeping records. Then again I don't really plan on selling any of the vehicles our family drives. At least not anytime soon.

I like keeping track, I have a binder on my Packard. I doubt I ever sell it, but I do hope it is still around once I am gone so the next owner will have some history. I got such a kick out of finding an engine rebuild invoice inside the passenger door after I removed the door panel! Showed a name and address from 1953 and an itemized work order for $73.00. You gotta love that personal connection, like a snapshot of daily life from before I was around. I am also lucky enough to have an image of the previous owner smiling away beside this car when he was a young man back in 1959. Adds so much dimension to our treasures.

Couple of new FB Marketplace postings:

1939 Six Sedan. Badly rusted and riddled with bullet holes. Little if anything appears to be salvageable. One of the roughest Packards I have ever seen anyone trying to sell. Ad states it is a 120 but it is a Six. Seller asking $400. Maybe some of the running gear might be salvageable. Wisconsin:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/2357001777 ... f15e12c-9717-4860-b592-a9dd297a6091

1955 400. Pictures too blurry to accurately assess condition but what I can see looks pretty bad. Car has been left outside for years with the back windshield knocked out and is very rusty. Seller asking $900. Ad states car is a 1956 but it is a 1955 model. Oneida, NY:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/1851208592 ... 0ffe2f1-9593-42ab-8fbc-28fb5c9a371a

1954 Convertible. Rough, rusty parts car looks like it has been left outside for many years. But may yield some good mechanical and trim parts. Does look complete. Seller asking $6,900 which is obviously way too much for a car in this rough a condition. New Hampshire:

1950 Eight Club Sedan. Not sure of model. Abandoned restoration project. Glass is out. Needs everything but body looks really solid. Interior was done in vinyl and should be redone. Asking $1,000. Oklahoma:

Actually that wreck of a 39 may still have some great parts...in particular it has a VERY rare overdrive throttle guard and heat shield atop a manifold that is becoming increasingly hard to find. and then the R6 overdrive itself...
Pobably best it is not closer and in a cold place or I'd be loading tools in my truck...scalp it and leave its carcass behind, as long as there is a forklift or something on site to rip it apart...ahhh the good old days of parts hunting...

Hi Flackmaster. Think you should go for it. I recently had to pay $550 for a new manifold for my '39 Six as mine was warped and cracked beyond repair. It is a hard part to find, as I found out. So, if this car has a good manifold, $400 is not unreasonable. And maybe there are a few other useable bits left.

Just posted today on FB:

1949 (22nd Series) Custom Eight Sedan. Very nice original car. Ad states car runs. Asking $15K. Trenton, NJ. If you want a Custom Eight, this looks like a good one:

Another recent posting; has been up for a while:

1953 Patrician. Unrestored original car which runs and drives and apparently is currently registered. Very solid and rust-free body. Has some collision damage to rear trunk lid. Unfortunately, the interior is pretty rough, especially the front seat area. But I think it is a good value at the asking price of only $4,500. Michigan:

1955 Clipper Constellation. Older restoration that has been in storage for the past 20 years. Nice paint and interior. Asking $12,500. Sterling heights, MI:

1955 Patrician. Ad states 30K original miles. Looks exceptionally clean with a beautiful original brocade fabric interior. Solid white. Asking $14,900. Johnson City, TN:

The overpriced hulk of a convertible in NH is actually a ‘53 (different interior details and trim). Seems like there might be fair number of usable parts there, but not $7000 worth.
