56 Patrician bought off ebay

I said I would post these pics and describe this Patrician a little. There is nothing stamped next to the trim indicator on the doorpost tag. It must be a custom request for an interior. It is a later Patrician #4256. I, and several others whose opinion I respect, have never seen an interior like this, but it is definitely Packard.
The paint code is "JN" which is Tangier Red and Maltese gray metallic. However the paint looks like "TN" Naples orange/Maltese gray metallic. I believe it is "TN". When I buff out a spot I will know for sure. The dash and carpet remnants is gray, the same as my Caribbean. It has a solid vinyl headliner, not perforated. The leather on the seats is white, orange and silver. It is sewn in the same pattern as other Patricians - the choice of materials is just different.
I am going to store it till the Caribbean is finished and this will give me something to do on those evenings when I don't have a lady to entertain.

That front seat style looks similar to a '400' style. My wifes Patrician is done in that style and we got it from a 55 '400' that we had.

The only non-perf vinyl headliner I've seen was on a export 55 Clipper. A really unique car Randy, and I'm glad to see it's in good hands - and it may give you some incentive to speed up finishing the Carib.

BTW, I've become aware of another 56 Carib convertible here in NJ now being restored out of state. It's paint code E (solid Danube Blue). No pictures or other data about it yet, but I'm trying to get them.

Nice acquisition, Randy!

I'd defer to the stamped "JN" - Tangier Red over Maltese Gray - although that was not one of the standard two-tone schemes. Unless the car was later repainted, what appears to be orange paint omn the exterior could simply be a badly faded case of Tangier Red.

The seat "pattern" jibes the my recollection of the only other '56 Patrician that I've personally seen with an all-leather interior, which was light blue, white and dark blue. However, Vermillion (an orange-red shade, as used in one of the Caribbean interiors) is not among any of the four trim sets shown in the '56 showroom album for all-leather upholstery on the Patricians. Also, the silver band on your car seems to be a different touch.

Back in the 1980s, a low-miles Exec hardtop (Norwegian Forest over Dover White) resurfaced that had been specially-equipped by the factory, after much persistence from the buyer, with Carib engine and dark green all-leather interior - among other things- and was reasonably well-documented. IIRC it had smooth, non-perforated dark green headlining. Last I heard, it was in the hands of a NJ collector.

I used rubbing compound on a spot that was missing the chrome. The exterior color is Tangier Red although it has faded to orange. The engine serial number is stamped on a boss on the pass. side of the engine ala Caribbean. They may have done that because the A/C bracket covers up the normal serial number location.

Digging a little deeper I discovered the Tangier red has been overpainted orange. It also has 1955 trunk lining, not the houndstooth of 56. Does anyone know where I can get this material??

Randy, looks like you need to start a new project blog for this new member of your Packard Fleet. Or we could have a "Randy's Garage" one!
