That's just a GREAT picture! I'd love to see more like that one.

Tires in general were a problem for several years after WW II, and especially some of the older sizes, particularly 19 inch. That's why we so often find cars like Pierce-Arrows of the early 30s that originally had 19 inch tires with a welded oversize steel rim to mount 20 inch tires which were easier to obtain. I suspect 17 inch tires were also hard to find for many years after the war; my 34 Eight when I bought it in 1963 was owned by a relatively wealthy woman with chauffeur, yet it had 10-ply Pennsylvania truck tires in the rear, and bald Norwalk's in the front. The spares were U.S. Royal Masters which were age-cracked beyond description.

Your baby is a duchess, too? Fabulous. The most famous Packard of royal lineage was the Empress, a '38 convertible sedan, star of the novel The Last Convertible. She was emerald green, also.

Good to have that photo of your Packard from over 60 years ago, a great historical connection. But the photo you just supplied leaves me "in the dark" so to speak, so I've attached a slightly brighter pic I copied from another post of yours. Be even better if there was one in the sunlight. Or do you want to keep it that way?

No attempt to keep you in the dark. I was just using my IPhone camera and with the car in the shade and the bright sunlight behind her makes difficulty in balancing the light. Here is a better one taken after I moved to a slightly different spot. As you can see, it was still very harsh light.
