Need NOS or good standard crankshafts.

I've got some sets of STD, .001" and .002" main and rod bearings on the shelf, but every engine recently has needed to go undersize.

Anyone got a NOS crank or one they'll guarantee to be usable at no more than .002"?

Let me guess. Most of the cranks u've ran into over the last 20 years have been cut to the max???

Well ok. But i'm still wondering if he has ran into any trends. Trends such as cranks that have been ground to the max. Probably cylinder bores all cut to the max too. I don;t know. Just asking. Looking for trends. That's all.

How about this for a trend. We are talking about motors that are 55 years old MINIMUM. They passed their best before date when Cher was a virgin. Wonder why they are no longer pristine and in perfect condition.

What is worse they get a year older every 12 months.

Hi, Keith,

NO, most Packard V8s were junked out because the transmission failed before they got to high mileage.

Main bearing wear, rocker arm tips, rocker shafts full of crud are things I watch for.

C'mon guys, Fred was making a joke! He's kidding Rusty and me about watching for crud in used engines and old gals like Cher, but he prefers to watch for pretty young girls - get it now?
