Today I poured gas in my Packard because it run out of gas when I tired to fix wipers and my friend came today and I got some gas because he wanted to see it running
it took me year again to crank the engine and filled the carburator so I used a spray bottle to spray gas to the carburetor so I don´t have to kill my starter while cranking it too much Firstly it runned good then it shutted it off I cranked to and my dad shot gas down the carb with a bottle and it runned pretty ruff I so my dad started it with full throttle and it finally started running Then I My Friend put the Gear on twice and it Died both times So I took the wheel I gave it little more gas so it didn´t die it worked then I drived like 100 or 50 Yards and It died and It died like over 10 times then I drived like 5 Yard and died and didn´t wanted to move more

Top 4 How to Shut off your Packard's engine
Number 4 Took the key out
Number 3 Press Throttle half way in
Number 2 Put Gear on and Release the brake
Number 1 Burn 3 Gallons of gas in 100 Yard trip on your garages yard and run out of fuel

One thing more its very hard to start when its hot

First, can you please write in proper sentences? It will be easier for us to understand your point. 😊

Did you have it driving before? The Ultramatic transmissions have a condition where, if the car is very cold, the direct drive clutch plate will automatically engage and stall the engine even if it is spinning fast. The solution is to cut chamfers in the linings which I will explain if needed. However if the engine can barely run to begin with, then maybe you only have engine problems.

You need to check that the fuel system is working properly. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and point it into a container, and crank the engine over a few times. You should see gas shoot out from the line. The fuel tank pickup line can develop a pinhole at the 1/2 full or 1/4 full point, so make sure you have 3/4 tank of gas or more when testing.

The engine in your car is a 9.5 compression ratio, so you need to run it on at least "98E5" gas as they call it in Finland, preferably the Shell V-Power 99+ or equivalent. Otherwise there may be knocking in the engine.

On one of my former Packards, the Ultramatic's governor stuck so would die when put into gear. As the governor is on the outside of the transmissions on the earlier cars (up to 1954, pre-Gearstart) it was easy to access but not sure about the Twin Ultramatic.

Sorry about that I really have a bad day and I am very Tired too but sometimes it feels like the Needles are stuck in carb sometimes when I hit it with spanner it starts working it feels like first too Barrels of carb gets gas freely but rears not I don´t really know much of about the carburetor of my Packard because I haven´t never open it but it have worked before and I have driven like a half a mile with it around the yard now I was wondering about the Windshield wiper motor because I have took it out. I am going to change the electrical wiper motor in but is it possible the vacuum lines just make a huge vacuum leak to the carb

Remove the soft line from the hard line, then wrap tape around the line past the end of it and pinch the tape shut.

Poster is Finnish so English is not his first language. I have trouble writing in meaningful sentances and English is my first and only language!

Also...a golf tee works great at plugging a vacuum hose when needed.

I have replaced all hoses when I tried to get original Wipers working but I didn´t because Motor it self doesn´t have enough torque to move the wipers. but that not the point I plugged that vacuum line what goes from back of the carburetor to that vacuum thing that on the back wall and now its started and runs just fine thank for help. and one more thing is it normal for the fuel pump to like crank to engine for a year until to fuel reaches to carb or is my fuel pump going bad I have gasket kit for it but I wanted to ask before I again do something stupid.

If the carb and fuel lines are all empty, it will take a while to get fuel from the tank to the carb and fill it.
