Yes, I believe he was credited with once owning the mansion used in the exterior shots of the Beverly Hillbillies. Not a bad little house.

I believe E.L. Cord owned that mansion as well. It no longer exists.
This car is very restorable, and could even be done by a do-it-yourselfer with a little bit of knowledge and bodyshop friends. It looks to be very complete. I'd love to do it, but neither have the time nor the space to do it. It's a mate to the one we've owned since 1958.

West,

Is your '41 the same car that appeared in Collector Car Magazine several years ago? As I recall they did a beautiful spread on a beauty of an automobile. I'll have to look and see if I can dig out the article.

Yes. That was the December 1980 issue. It's also featured in the book, "Packard Pride," with different photography.

West, very interesting info on E.L. Cord owning the mansion. He was best known in Los Angeles for owning the Pan Pacific Auditorium. My family still reminisces about going to the magnificent auto shows there. My grandparents first went in the '30's

Great candidate for resto, along with the other rare birds that seller was offering.

The reference to E.L. Cord's manse as being related to the Beverly Hillbillies
struck a chord (pardon the obvious pun). Cordhaven was built in 1933 and
demolished in 1963, and was vastly different from that of the Clampetts.

Perhaps the Cords owned another Beverly Hills property prior to/during the construction of Cordhaven?

Gotta run, time for my daily laps in the cement pond...

Thanks, Tom. I should also make the correction that the Beverly Hillbillies mansion is still standing, but is no longer visible from the street. It's not in Beverly Hills, either. It's in Bel Air.

It was Kirkeby mansion in Bel Air.

The address is:

750 Bel Air Rd
Bel Air, CA.

The view is hidden from the street by a wall and tall hedges.

The same seller listed a 1941 120 Station Wagon by Hercules
that looked like it came from the same stash.

Price---$75,901.99. Not bad!
