Shanghai was his location but China his sales territory for more than two decades.

The dealerships list contains two locations in Shanghai:

1) Mark L. Moody, Inc. at 10th Av. Edward VII and

2) Mark L. Moody Federal Inc. at 640 Avenue Foch

Many if not all of the following photographs are related to the Avenue Foch.

Marty (Marston), your garage is that clean. Don't know why but in your excellent project blog dirt is nowhere to be seen.

I'm wondering what happened to Mr Moody and his business when Mr Mao took over in 1949.

Mark Moody was obviously a pretty smart guy who no doubt got out of China before second battle of Shanghai in August to October of 1937. (He probably stuck it out after the fist Shanghai War in 1932 between the Japanese and Chinese).

He would have known about the Japanese onslaught occurring that year. Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-Shek pivoted from fighting the Communists to attacking the Japanese, with disastrous consequences. Shanghai was devastated by ferocious urban warfare, with the loss of about 300,000 lives.

Mr. Moody, had he stayed in Shanghai, would have had virtually no clientele left to buy his cars.

This situation would persist throughout World War II, followed by the fighting between the Nationalists and Communists in the aftermath.

BDC, I was waiting for this question.
A day after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, US citizen of Shanghai were arrested by Japanese occupants, who conquered the region in 1937. That settled the matter once and for all. And what has become of Mr. Moody? See clipping below.

Craig (MrBumble), after viewing the above mentioned 450 photographs I've got the impression that Mr. Moody was animated with adventurous spirit. Maybe a bit too much.

How true.

What a coincidence! Or is it deja vu all over again?

No sooner does Gerd bring to our attention Mark L Moody, his Shanghai dealership and other aspects of his life then the June 2016 issue of The Cormorant News Bulletin comes into my hands today. But why would that be a coincidence? Because the back cover has a photo on it titled "Mystery Photo #2. Give us the location of the photo, the year and model of the tow truck and your guess on the purpose of the photo. Send your reply to the CNB Editor; selected replies will be run in a future issue." The really coincidental part is that the photo, of the Packard Tow Truck together with a pedal(or miniature?) car beside it, is in the Mark L Moody service centre as detailed here by Gerd recently. I think it's possible that it's actually Mark L in leather flying helmet and goggles in the pedal car, after all he's a great self promoter.

The picture in question, which I'm not reproducing because of possible copyright issues, only caught my attention when I saw signwritten on the upper front of the cab "PACKARD & FIAT SERVICE", then realised where it was taken and the fact it also had Chinese characters on the door.

All PAC members, who are also members here, will have a head start in sending replies to the CNB Editor!

There's also another coincidence, well from my perspective there is! The August 2016 issue of "The Packardian", publication of the Packard Automobile Club of Australia, has an article about a '25 326 Tow Truck which I had a hand in bringing to print. See photo below.
