Some Paint questions I had for my 55 Clipper

1. Is the bottom part of the inter fender painted a different color ? (Black)

2. What color is the body of the Twin ultramatic ?

3. What color are the motor mounts?

Thanks Kevin

Not clear exactly which part you are asking about but the answer Ross provided not too long ago on another thread about the V8 fenders may answer the first question
Quote:
Also curious is all the red oxide primer showing on the front fenders. Those parts were all dipped in black enamel for priming. Only the bodies were sprayed with red oxide.

2. What color is the body of the Twin ultramatic ?

The Twin Ultra was painted engine color

3. What color are the motor mounts?

Good question. I've seen both engine color and black. Be interesting to hear what others say.

Thanks Kevin

Can you elaborate on where you are referring to as bottom of inner fender. As mentioned yesterday, since Ross said fenders were dipped in black primer black would be in the wheel side with some overspray of body color. On another post Ross or another individual had said fenders were placed on a stand at an angle when body color was sprayed. Masking was minimal so there was overspray and probably some skipped areas if the area was kind of hidden. Inside the void or area at the cowl sides I believe is mostly black with more overspray. The engine side inner fender down to frame is body color.

Ultras were engine color so red or turquoise depending on which model Clipper.

Motor mounts I think were engine color but have seen both black and engine color. I believe they were already bolted on the engine and painted as a unit with the engine but I could be wrong.

Kevin we own a 55 Clipper Custom also. I did not know to look at previous posts for that. I did look for an owners registry for your car and did not see one. This Clipper was in orig paint when purchased and the engine was in the lt green color not a teal. It did have extensive factory tar based undercoat/sound deadener with body color sprayed over it on the lower portions and body color on the upper insides of both fenders. Is your car a green car? pM me if it it an A/B or B/A paint code as I would compare some other items. Is yours a numbers matching engine? # stamped on the pad near the oil fill.
The paint color in a teal that most others are using for the engine is incorrect by my eye, -way too blue/aqua. I have found a source for the paint codes in modern materials if you are interested.
