Packard Proving Grounds - New Donation

Wanted to announce the latest donation of a 1956 Executive to the Packard Proving Grounds.

It is a GIFT by William Albertin of St. Louis, MO and a member of PAC region Mississippi Valley Packards. We just received it a week or so ago and it is in excellent condition. Painted in Holland Blue with Dover White trim.

Being the last model introduced by Packard in April of 1956, it would have been among the last cars to roll out of the Conner Avenue plant.

I have added it to the Owner's Registry. I don't have all the details on the car, but I will add that later.

Attached is a photo the car and a photo of William in the center and PMCF Trustee, Neal Porter, on the left and PMCF Trustee, Bruce Blevins, accepting the keys to the car.

We are very grateful for the generosity shown by Mr. Albertin. His car will help explain the final days of Packard in Detroit.

Roger,
for including the PPG's '56 Executive Touring Sedan in the Registry.

Previously you also included the PPG's donated Paint code R Carnation over Amethyst '54 Pacific Hardtop in this Registry Entry. Looking at the photo there, I see a number of other cars(Packards?) under drop sheets lined up next to Amy. If this photo was taken at the PPG, can the other Packards also be included in the Registry? If that could be done it will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, every year we have special theme and this year is rear engined cars or "Hoods in the Rear."

Three Stout Scarabs in one place at one time is extremely rare. Only 9 cars were built, only 5 have survived, so the majority of Stout Scarabs ever built will be at the PPG this next Sunday.

We also have a Tucker and a Tatra coming, plus many other rear engine cars. I am expect 300+ cars on the show field.

And there is a swap meet.

We have a weather forecast of sunny, no rain and in the mid-80s. Come on by if you are in the area, better yet, take a road trip.

Nothing short of spectacular to have 3 Scarabs!

Here's a rear-engine car that I hope you don't invite and doesn't participate. In the long list of "I can't believe someone would do that", how about a hot-rodded Tucker!

Hi

Don't despair, that's one of the fiberglass replica bodies:

The telltale is the lowered greenhouse, subtle but still obvious.

Wow, three Stout Scarabs to attend! Wish I could be there!

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

Steve, the story I heard was that the chassis and running gear were authentic and if production had not been halted it would have been Tucker #52.

Equally abhorrent at least to me was a rodded Lincoln Continental. The only car in the hot rod circle that I did appreciate was Ed Iskendarian's, first rod, a '24 T bucket, now in Wayne Carini's hands to sell for Isky who is still alive and kicking, and in his 90s.

Sorry Roger, didn't mean to take this so far off-course. I'll make amends by making a donation to the PPG.
