Rochester 4GC Carburetor 7007230 Base

I have a Rochester 4GC carb (7007230) from my '55 Clipper, 352 motor. Unfortunately, someone forced (over tightened) the idle screw and enlarged the "pin hole" on the backside. The threads on the throttle body assembly have also been enlarged to the point where the needle doesn't seat well. I bought a 4GC on eBay thinking I could use the base. I learned that the carburetor I bought on eBay was for a Chevy and the base (throttle body assembly) too small for my carburetor. Is there anyone out there in Packardland who would have a base for the Rochester 7007230 I have or that knows if there are other base models that would work? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
BRodd

G'day BobbyRodd,
Although not your first post, I'd like to you to PackardInfo. But I'd like to invite you to include your '55 Clipper in the Packard Owner's Registry, and sorry I can't help with your query.

Since we are on the subject of the Rochester 4GC, is there any way to hook up the bottom of the carburetor, to a gas tank return line? The 352 engine on my car had originally a return line at the bottom of the Carter 2 barrel carburetor to the gas tank. It is still there but not hooked up. Never had vapor lock. Now I do have it. Been told that could be part of the problem with the conversion. Really like the power upgrade with the 4GC, but it seems to flood more, and most likely needs a rebuild or adjustment. Re-installing the 2 barrel is not an option !

In all but the most extreme situations the V8 Packards when in good state of tune have shown themselves to be quite immune to vapor lock, so maybe you should try some of the common vapor lock preventatives before going to something as
drastic as you describe, which sounds to me like an ill-advised idea. If you must have a return loop fuel system, the loop is generally made near to but external to the carburetor, certainly not from the fuel bowl itself.

Is that right? Know nothing about V8 Packards but this sounds interesting.

On my 1965 Cadillac it was done from the fuel filter assembly which was very much like those in Packards but with an extra fitting for the second hose back to the sender on the tank. However, only those with A/C had it. Still, as others advised it should not be needed on the Packard.
