I took mine over to a machine shop in town that does engines and truck axles. Reamed it to a perfect fit in a quick turnaround.

Well, that brings back the issue that they should be burnished, not reamed! They are two different processes with one cutting off material and disturbing the surface (reaming) and the other rolling out the surface to make the hole larger (burnishing).

Note, these are not oil impregnated bushings, but plain bushings with a grease groove cut into them in a helical spiral. There is no surface to accumulate filings, just a wash afterward with cleaner then greased after assembly. You just need to align the one bushing with the grease hole when pressing into the spindle to allow grease to fill the spiral cut. The instructions with the kit indicate they be reamed to fit. The OD of the bushing is a press fit to begin with so nothing has to be done to stop the bushing from spinning, no matter how fast you steer!

I think the difference is original bushings vs afternarket replacement bushings.

If you want to see what success looks like, take a look at the first picture below. That exhaust manifold was broken off at some point in the distant past.

Got most of the motor externals stripped down so I can clean and paint the motor.

Dell, thanks, I appreciate it. But I think Flackmaster has a care package on the way to me already!

I'm pretty sure the gas pedal pushrod on my car was altered and shortened. I'd like to locate an original, unaltered one if possible. If anyone has one, please let me know.

This is the rod with the ball on the end that is pushed into the back of the gas pedal and extends through the firewall.

I'd like to rework the Rube Goldberg throttle arrangement that is currently on the car while I have the front sheet metal off. So I'd like to start with unaltered parts, as I am pretty sure the current pedal "throw' is a lot less than stock.
